Larry Gene Pitchford

Larry Gene Pitchford Sr., 63, Centralia, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2004 at 6:20 a.m. at St. Marys Hospital.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW Post 2055.  Mr. Pitchford was a shift supervisor at the Illinois Department of Corrections in Vandalia.  He retired after 28 and a half years as a correction Lieutenant.
He was born June 16, 1940 in Tamaroa, the son of Enoch Edward and Mae Belle (Taylor) Pitchford.  He married Alice Marie Lang on October 14, 1960 in Salem.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Marie Pitchford of Centralia; sons, Larry Gene Pitchford Jr. and wife Marla of Tacoma, Wash; daughter, Kiana Lynn Pitchford of Odin; four grandchildren, Chasity Pitchford, Larry Gene Pitchford, Travis Pitchford and Shauna Pitchford; two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Sadie;  brothers-in-law, Eugene Huffman of Indiana and Lonnie Lang of Salem; three sisters-in-law, Betty Pitchford of Florida; Abby Lang of Salem and Shirley Huffman of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dearld E. Pitchford, step-mother, Helen Pitchford and step-father, Dwight F. Cross.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Gerald  Goodman officiating.  Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Friends called Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of service at Irvin Funeral Home.
Military graveside rites were accorded at the cemetery on Saturday by VFW 2055 and American Legion Post 446.
